Working from her studio in the Highlands of Hampton
in Queensland, Australia, Denise Rosser’s exclusively
designed and sculpted collection of smoke fired figurative
sculptures are a unique collection of both Original and
Limited Edition works of art.
“ I describe my work as sculptural pottery, as
I am both
a sculptor and potter at heart.
My heart loves figurative form
and the
expression of feeling and concepts this
allows.
Equally I love the beautiful
Australian clays I work with
– their
responsiveness, their texture,
their touch.
Firing my work, firstly in a gas kiln to
approx 900 degrees,
followed by pit
firing, wood firing or smoke firing
brings
both myself and my work alive with
the sheer drama
of the controlled
yet unpredictable force and power of fire,
heat and smoke.”
Out of this process, uniquely beautiful
sculptures emerge,
rising out of the ashes
like the phoenix to tell their own story.
Denise Rosser has over 15 years experience as a potter and ceramic artist , selling the majority of her work via art markets and through private commissions. Denise uses specific techniques and custom designs to produce pottery, sculptures, and functional items utilising the natural textures of clay, wood, and fire. She lives and works from her home and studio in Perseverance, Queensland, Australia. |
